Russian medium

Before the applicant starts studying at our University, he needs to learn Russian and other fundamental disciplines at the Preparatory Training Course. Only after that he can be transferred for further studies. Language of instructions is Russian. Overseas students can optionally on the bases of additional contract along with their major course continue studying Russian and learn the methods of its teaching. At the end of their studies they get the Certificate that allows them to teach Russian in their mothercountries.

For drawing up the Official Letter of Invitation

These documents should be sent by fax or by mail:

Application with passport data, home address, tel/fax number, email;
Secondary school graduation certificate (translated into Russian, English or French and notarially attested);
Passport copy;
Health certificate based on complete physical examination.

These documents should be submitted on arrival:

Visa;
Application form;
Photo 4x6 sm (10).

Application Procedure

The application should be sent by fax or regular mail together with all the necessary enclosures before the 1st of August to the Dean’s Office of Overseas Students Training Faculty. Applicants, who are considered eligible, will be invited by Official Invitation. The Letter of Invitation is the ground for obtaining an Entrance Visa.

Enrollment

The decision on acceptance will be made on the bases of documents submitted and upon oral interview (based on personality and motivations of the applicant). Then the Study Contract between the applicant and University is signed. The precondition for enrollment to the University is the payment of the tuition and other fees. Contract may be signed for 1 year and then prolonged for the whole period of studies.

The academic year starts on September 1.

Tuition fee

Tuition fee covers all the costs for education (lectures, practical courses, examinations etc.). The annual tuition fee should be paid in US$ per annum at once at the beginning of academic year (no other currency is accepted).

Mode of payment

in cash;
bank transfer;
bank draft in favor of Vitebsk State Medical University.
Credit cards are not accepted. The name of the applicant must be clearly stated on bank transfer and drafts.

Hostel

Admission to study guarantees accommodation in a student hostel. Students are provided with accommodation in double occupancy room (one room shared by two students) and a common kitchen. The rent for 1 place in a room is approx. 250 USD per academic year . Charges are exclusive of heating and electricity costs. All fees should be paid in advance.

Entry Requirements

A valid passport and visa are required for all applicants entering the Republic of Belarus. For more information, please contact the nearest Belarus Embassy or Consular Office.

Living expenses

Living expenses (food and transport) can be expected to cost around 200-250 USD per month. In addition, one must remember to include costs of winter clothes and visas.

Health Insurance

Before the beginning of the academic year one will need to take a supplementary medical examination in the hospital of VSMU. It is not free of charge and student will have to cover the expenses himself. For this purpose he will be required to sign a contract with one of the Local Insurance Companies. Health insurance policy in Belarus costs approximately 85 USD per year.

National currency is the Belarusian Ruble. Any foreign currency usually can not be used for cash payment within the territory of Belarus excluding payment for studies at the University, flight tickets etc. You can make currency exchange at any bank or currency exchange office. The US$ and European € are the most widely circulated.
