Faculty of Overseas Students Training
In 1981 by the Resolution of Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education of
USSR Vitebsk State Medical Institute was the first in Belarus to receive the
right to train specialists for foreign countries. In 1989 the Preparatory
Training Course for Overseas students was established. Since that more than
350 students from Ghana, Egypt, Iran, India, Jordan, Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon,
Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Palestine, Pakistan, Syria, Somali, Sri-Lanka, etc.
have graduated from the Preparatory Training Course. Starting with the year
1990 pharmaceutics have being trained. The first graduation at the Faculty
of Pharmacy took place in 1995. In the year 2002 the Stomatological Faculty
was established. During more than 20 years the Faculty of Overseas Students
Training prepared more than 900 physicians and pharmacists from more than
109 countries of the world (Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Kenya, the
Cameroon, Morocco, Tanzania, Mali, Sudan, Somali, Ethiopia, Uganda, Nigeria,
Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Pakistan, Peru, Panama,
Nicaragua, Bolivia, Salvador, India, Sri-Lanka, Nepal, France, Sweden,
Norway, etc.). They got Diplomas and were awarded the title the Doctor of
Medicine and Magister of Pharmacy. More than 200 specialists were given the
right to teach Russian language in colleges and Universities of their
countries. Overseas students continue their studies at Clinical Residency or
Postgraduate Training Course on a very wide range of specialties (surgery,
pediatrics, cardiology, ophthalmology, urology, oncology, traumatology,
otolaryngology, clinical diagnostics). More than 20 overseas graduates
defended their theses, a lot of them are working on master’s thesis now. The
Faculty of Overseas Student Training welcomes all young people from
different countries of the world, who are willing to become a physician,
pharmacist or dentist-the representatives of one of the noblest professions.
